Joel Neely is a popular music entertainer from Baton Rouge. Raised in rural Mississippi and Louisiana in a large extended family, country and gospel music were always a big part of family gatherings.

While in college at LSU in the late 60's he began playin guitar and singin in a folk group called "The Shepards".

In 1967 he and some musician friends formed a band called "Isosceles Popsicle" which became very popular throughout south Louisiana. That's him at the far left.

The first record made by the "Isoceles Popsicle" circa 1969 titled "I Been Trying".

In 1973 Joel joined a group called the "Lively Arts Quintet". They were very popular throughout Mississippi. They were the front act for many famous performers like Patty Label, Crystal Gayle, Hose' Feliciano and many others. They performed for the Governor's Ball for several years. That's Joel on the far left.
